Something for Kate's Paul Dempsey was honoured to be performing in East Timor for the locals and 1500 Australian Defence Force personnel stationed there this week. Australian musicians flew out of Darwin to entertain Australian troops working in East Timor for Christmas on Monday. On board the RAAF Hercules flight were Killing Heidi, Dempsey and the top performer DJ Groove Terminator.

Dempsey was honoured with the invitation. While walking on the tarmac to board the flight to Dili on Monday, Dempsey said: "It was an opportunity I could not possibly pass up. I don't know a lot about East Timor yet but the fact they have finally won their independence and been recognised by the UN as an independent nation is great.

"I think it is an exciting time -- it is about the birth of a nation and Australians are over there helping them get it together.

"So I wanted to get over there and do whatever I could.

"I want to see what's going on and if there is any opportunity to get my hands dirty in any way, like to build something, I will."

Something for Kate has just wound up a national tour with Australian band Powderfinger on the back of their highly successful latest album Echolalia.
