SOMETHING FOR KATE: Thebarton Theatre Saturday, October 11

SOMETHING For Kate shows tend to lean toward the more hypnotic-style of performance where fans stand and sway in adulation. Thankfully, the trio came out of the blocks with an energetic zest at the Thebarton Theatre (the previous gig at Heaven II was a little on the slow side). Singer Paul Dempsey was in fine vocal form, pushing his vocals to the emotional limits, with his voice cracking in several inspiring moments. The musicianship was tight and rocking, with SFK wisely fattening up the live sound with an added keys, guitars, a violinist and cellist. Fans pumped their fists in the air for pop gem Deja Vu and other highlights included latest single Song for a Sleepwalker, Monsters, Echolalia and Light at the End of the Tunnel. Dempsey even threw in a David Bowie classic, Space Oddity, which got the older audience members were singing along. Proving just how much SFK did rock, three girls to the side of stage looked like they were at a dance party so for those who simply stand and sway, you can actually shake your booty to SFK.
