9/11/01
Wow, it's been a long time since I've updated this. Sorry about that.
The biggest news is that Something for Kate were featured on JJJ's J-Files last night. It was a three hour special with lots of great b-sides are live stuff. If you missed it then you should be kicking yourself.
Something for Kate will be playing at the Falls Festival. The festival which goes over new years is always very popular and will no doubt sell out, so snap up tickets now to catch their last performance of the year. This is the last date they have scheduled for the near future.
'Twenty Years' is the third single off 'Echolalia' and is NOW OUT. It contains some great b-sides, including the brand new track 'Remarkable Lack of Forsight', a remix of 'Feeding the Birds...', as well as live performances from the recent Forum dates of 'Anchorman' and 'Like Bankrobbers'. It's currently selling for under $5 at the good music stores, although this probably won't last.
Something for Kate will be performing a live set for a coming up special of Channel [v]'s Live at VHQ. Sydney-siders will be able to attend next friday. More details can be found at Channel [v] and Something for Kate
27/9/01

Something for Kate will be performing a couple of songs for MMM on October 5. No more information is known at this stage about attending or broadcast times.

Well friday nights gig at the forum was amazing. Something for Kate gigs are now sharper and bigger than ever. Theres even a light show, and the addition of violin on a couple of tracks, such as 'Like Bankrobbers' and 'White' sounds incredible. If they're coming through your town then you really have to see them. They'll also be touring with powderfinger in a few months so look out then.
Votes are now being taken for the Channel [v] Australian artist of the Year ARIA award. Click HERE to vote for sfk. Something for Kate are No. 79 in the selections list, so be careful and make sure you don't accidently vote for Nikki Webster or something. Tell your friends to vote too.

'Three Dimensions' was released today. The song reached No. 1 in the Net 50 last Saturday. Vote Here to keep it there.
30/7/01
Well Live at the Wireless just finished and I must say it was a great performance. For those who missed it (and I guess those who heard it), the setlist was:
1. Happy Endings
2. Three Dimensions
3. You Only Hide
4. 20 Years
5. Stunt Show
6. ... Something In Return
7. Old Pictures
8. Say Something
9. Monsters
10. Seasick
That's about all I have to say, not long till the new single and tour
6 Days until 'Three Dimensions'
8 Days till the Echo-la-la-lia Tour kicks off
25/7/01
The new single 'Three Dimensions' is out on the 6th of August and of course includes some kickass B-Sides, including 'The Green Line is Us, The Red Line is Them' (I know it's a very strange name, I believe it's 'heatwave' renamed), an early demo of 'Monsters' and a live recording of 'Beautiful Sharks'. The clip is currently on RAGE and channel [v]. Although 3 dimensions is climbing the Net 50, it's dissapointing that 'Monsters' seems to have been given up on. Go Vote for both of the great songs.
The Echo-la-la-lia tour is about to sweep the nation, so look out for dates in your area. I understand tickets are selling fast. Supports include Crooked Fingers (USA - ex member of Archers of Loaf) and Gota Cola.

TAKEOFF!. The day has come. Echolalia is a here and it is a mighty fine album, so definately go out and get it. I believe HMV (in the city at least) is selling 'Elsewhere...' for only $9.95, so if you still don't have it then you really have no excuse now.

ONLY 2 DAYS!!!!. Not long now. I can't wait until Monday because it means I won't have to listen to the shit that is radio. Although the Oz Music show did play three or so new songs (after about 2 hours), I find it hard to believe that with all the great aussie bands around today, that was the best they could come up with. It was generally quite agonising listening to it. But on the better side of radio, RRR Live at the Laundry was excellent. Sfk played 7 songs (to radio), 6 of which were New. It went:
1. 20 Years
2. 3 Dimensions
3. Monsters
4. You Only Hide
5. Seasick
6. Jerry Stand Up
7. Whatever You Want
Paul also came into the studio after the performance and did about an 8 minute interview about recording, touring, and of course the new album. I may type that up and put in the Interviews/Articles section over the next few days.
'Echolalia' is not surprisingly Triple J's Feature Album this week. 2001 tommorow, I think, has interviews with the band and will no doubt have lots of new stuff.
Don't forget, Sfk are on ROVE this Tuesday night, 9:30 on Channel 10.
18/6/01
7 days to. Triple J Played 'Stunt Show' and '...In Return' on 2001 Sunday night and previewed 'You Only Hide' on Net 50. Another good chance to hear some new Sfk will be on the Oz Music Show, Wednesday night from 10PM.
Monsters is still NUMBER 1 on the Net 50, after 8 weeks. Lets keep it there, go here to vote.
Don't forget, this thursday night, probably around 9, sfk are on RRR Live on the Rooftop. If you weren't lucky enough to score tickets then tune in to 102.7 FM.
15/6/01
10 days and counting. The album apparently has a cool Multimedia bonus, including Interviews and the 'Monsters' clip. The second single from the album is set to be "Three Dimensions". They've been playing it at most dates on the mythology tour (It's the one that goes "...Echolalalalalalalalia"). No doubt it'll have some top B-Sides. That's out on the 23rd of July
Apparently JJJ are playing new tracks off the album already, so listen out for them.
Listen this thursday for Sfk on RRR 'Live at the Rooftop'. A small amount of tickets can be won through RRR or the Official Site. Also look out for solo and full band instore appearances coming up. They're on ROVE Live next week, as well as a few others on Foxtel.
Theres a really cool article on the band in JUICE this month, definately go get it. I'll get it typed up in the next week or so.
8/6/01
Well the mythology tour has come to a close. If you didn't catch at least one of the gigs then you surely need your head read. Not to worry though, I'm sure they'll do it all over again when the album is released. Already announced are some instores around the time the album is out, so keep checking here or the official site for exact details.

Last night's show was quite possibly the finest I've seen sfk. The new addition of keyboards and second guitar is definately a good thing, leaving Paul a little more freedom to try some different stuff. Paul looked more energised than I've ever seen him, particually towards the end of Before Butterflies Wings, where he went absolutely spastic (and I mean ever more than usual!). The 3 fresh songs (well to me at least) sounded different and interesting, I'm really looking forward to hearing them again tonight. Soundczech was amazing, and Monsters absolutely went off. Back to You sounds really cool with piano in it (although it's only really noticeable in the intro). Big Heavy Stuff also put on a very solid show, so I recommend you see them too. If you're not seeing them tonight then you'd be crazy to not try to scoop up some tickets for the Prince of Wales next week.
I'll most likely put up the setlists for tonights gig in a day or so, although I doubt I'll review it since I won't have much else to say.
31/5/01
Well I've been meaning to put a news section in this site for years but up until now the idea of regular updates has seemed like a lot of work. I plan to put news, tours, reviews and anything sfk related I want to rant about, so check back here regulary.
The big news naturally is sfk's upcoming album ECHOLALIA, due June 25. Click here for artwork and tracklist.
Everyone should know by now that MONSTERS is the first single released off the album. Go and buy it, it's got some killer B-Sides too (as usual). It's spent 5 weeks as number 1 on the Net 50. Vote now, lets keep it there.
The mythology tour is currently sweeping the nation, so if you've still got the opportunity to get tickets to one of the fine shows, then don't hesitate. They're supported by another fine band Big Heavy Stuff. Their latest album 'Size of the Ocean' is out now and I recommend it. I'm looking forward to attending tonights and tommorow nights shows at the corner so check back here for reviews and setlists next week.
Sfk are the cover story in this weeks Beat Magazine. I plan on putting the article up here some time in the next few days, but until then go read it online
This site is nominated for an ONYA award. Please support the band and myself by voting.
