Meaning: "It's a real freak of a
song. It was writen on piano and translated to guitar, which explains why it sounds
different. When we were in New Zealand we went in this elevator and the company
who made it was Schindler, and their logo was Schindlers Lift. That got me
thinking something about a lift as a concentration camp, the song is about
being trapped in a lift. This businessman on his way out of his office to go to
his family and he gets stuck in an elevator for hours and he thinks about where
he's going and he realises he doesn't want to go home to his family and kids,
he's in a lift and has to rethink his life. It has personal resonance but it's
not a personal account." - Paul
Recorded: Recorded
at York St Studios in New Zealand in February 1997. Produced by Brian Paulson.

Lyrics:
Down the hall it's the sameCounting the footstepsTaking your deep breathsSuch a suspicious calmA day is a dayHome is homeAnd everythingEverything is as it seemsRegardless of you and meImages linger onEven after it's goneMirrors make you go on foreverInside these rooms nothing ever endsIt can glow on your faceDrive you insaneIf you want me to take all those things downThrow them awayYou never liked them anywayYou've got your hammer outAnd you're hammering downThe corners at lastBut you're laying claimGathering everyone aroundSo you can drive themDrive them awayIf you want me to gather everyone aroundSend them awayYou never liked them anywayA day is a dayHome is homeEverything
